Westbank Facts

Approximately 40,000 people call the Westside home.
A two-time winner of Communities in Bloom Festival.
“The Westside” encompasses the area extending from the floating bridge all the way south to Peachland.
Earliest archaeological records show that First Nations were living in the area 4,000 years ago.
The first icewine made in Canada was produced in 1974 at Hainle Vineyards.
A cairn on the Old Okanagan Highway marks the location of the Okanagan Fur Brigade Trail.
The first orchard trees were planted in the area in 1903 by David Gellatly.
Westbank was named in 1902.
Telephone service came to Westbank in 1905.
Post Office and Store opened in 1908.
The first school opened in Westbank in 1910.
